A motley group of dissidents and self-proclaimed revolutionaries are intent on subverting local political and social structures in a small provincial town in 1870s Russia, spurred on by a demonic and manipulative ringleader. Based on Dostoyevsky's novel, this play by Lou Stein has a distinctly contemporary feel, with strong reminders of recent events in London and elsewhere. Translated by Tatiana Bazhenova.
