Alfred Deller
When countertenor
Alfred Deller made his first record in 1949, he seemed an exotic reincarnation of a virtually extinct breed. By the time of his death in 1979, his voice had changed the musical landscape for ever. Richard Wigmore presents the first of three programmes exploring his life, with contributions from son
Mark, members of the Deller Consort and countertenors James
Bowman and Paul
Esswood.
