"A monumental yet personal tribute to the city of London" was the jury's description. Monument is played by the ensemble George W Welch with a cast of voices taken from the BBC Sound
Archive, including radio announcers, bus conductors, newsreaders, commuters, weather forecasters, dance instructors, stockbroker, estate agent, high-rise residents, pub singers, tourists, children playing in the street and shoppers.
