George Cukor 's version of Emlyn Williams 's classic play marked his tenth collaboration with his favourite actress. Hepburn plays the indomitable Miss Moffat who is determined to stamp out illiteracy in a Welsh mining village. Among her pupils she finds a brilliant young man, Morgan, whom she is determined shall get a scholarship to Oxford. But an unfortunate romance, plus opposition from the local squire, are but two problems for Miss Moffat to overcome.

Twelve months ago Patrick Tambay sent 150,000 Italian motor racing fans wild with delight by winning at Imola for Ferrari. But the Tifosi won't be behind the Frenchman this year now that he's switched drives - to Renault. Another Frenchman in a third make of car, Alain Prost in his McLaren, will attract attention though after his spectacular start to the season.
