First, from Blackpool's famous Pleasure Beach, Ray Moore introduces all the girls in swimsuits as they watch and enjoy the spills and thrills of this world-famous funfair.
Then, in the more sophisticated surroundings of Tiffany's Ballroom, the 12 semi-finalists parade first in formal gowns and again in swimsuits to be assessed on beauty, personality and figure for a first prize of f7,500 plus automatic entry to the Miss World contest.
Finally the seven finalists are interviewed by Esther Rantzen to help the panel of celebrity judges come to a decision. Music by the BBC NORTHERN RADIO ORCHESTRA conducted by PHIL TATE
