One of the crew is the insane Taren Capel, who is using robots to carry out the murders. The Doctor discovers that there are also others who aren't what they appear to be either.

Greek sponge-divers Mike Petrakis and his young son, Tony, return to Tarpon Springs, Florida, with a poor collection. Fabulous hauls of sponges are to be found, however, in the dangerous Twelve Mile Reef. This action-packed underwater adventure was filmed on location in Florida and the sponge-fishing grounds in the Gulf of Mexico.
