This is an important occasion for Thomas Matthews , the talented young violinist who has during the last year or two become very well known to Northern listeners, largely through studio broadcasts as a soloist and as a member of the BBC Northern Orchestra. Tonight he is soloist at one of the famous public concerts of the orchestra which he joined in 1925 at the age of eighteen. He was a member of the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra two years before.
