An Appeal on behalf of The WAYFARERS' SUNDAY ASSOCIATION; by S. P. B. MAis
Mr. S. P. B. Mais will make an appeal on behalf of the Wayfarers' Sunday Association, which is doing a unique work by providing Centres on Sundays where girls, and their boy friends, may find opportunities for recreation and fellowship. It is one attempt to meet the challenge of Sunday leisure. The girls and boys find themselves free, sometimes for practically the whole of Sunday, with no opportunity to meet their friends in congenial surroundings. As a result, they wander the streets or frequent undesirable places of entertainment and often drift to moral disaster.
For the last seven years the Wayfarers have very successfully met this need wherever it has been possible to open a Centre. Today Mr. Mais will explain the method in which the Wayfarers work, and how listeners may help and extend this valuable social service.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to S. P. B. Mais , Esq., [address removed]
There are more than 5 million programme listings in Genome. This is a
historical record of the planned output and the BBC services of any
given time. It should be viewed in this context and with the
understanding that it reflects the attitudes and standards of its time
- not those of today.
Genome is a digitised version of the Radio Times from 1923 to 2009 and
is made available for internal research purposes only. You will need to
obtain the relevant third party permissions for any use, including use in
programmes, online etc.
This internal version of Genome, which includes all the magazine covers,
images and articles as well as the programme listings from the Radio
Times, is different to the version of BBC Genome that is available
externally/to the public. It is only available inside the BBC network.
