Another chance to hear Julian Joseph and Geoffrey Smith 's exploration of the recorded legacy of American clarinettist and composer
Artie Shaw , who became one of the best-known and highest-paid musicians of his day and who married a string of Hollywood starlets, including Ava Gardner , but gave up playing and the limelight in 1954 to become a full-time writer. He died recently at the age of 94.
