Francis Wilford-Smith presents ten programmes tracing the development of the blues in the thirties and forties as reflected by the historic Bluebird label. 8: Uncertain Years During 1939 and 40, Bluebird's output dropped dramatically.
The label concentrated on recording established musicians like Tampa Red and Walter Davis , but room was found for Jimmy Yancy , Leadbelly and Memphis Slim.
