Leroy Carr , who died in 1935 when he was only 30 years old, was the most popular blues singer and pianist of his time. In the first of two programmes, Francis Wilford-Smith describes Carr's upbringing in Nashville, and his famous partnership with Scrapper Blackwell , and plays some of their best-known records, including
How Long Blues, and Blues Before Sunrise.
