'I've never wanted to be at home anywhere. And I don't regard the world as good enough to make a home anywhere.'
The novelist and graphic artist Wolfgang Hildesheimer , who left Germany at 16 before World War n, now lives in Switzerland. In conversation with Dr Philip Brady , Reader in German at
Birkbeck College, he reflects on the romantic view of the artist as an outsider and on his own sense of homelessness and survival.

A reconstruction of the Popieluszko case, dramatised from transcripts of the trial by TREVOR BARNES
with Bernard Hill as the Narrator
On 30 October 1984 the body of a man dressed in a cassock was dragged from a Polish river. The man was Fr Jerzy Popieluszko. Two months later four secret policemen stood charged with his murder and, over the 26 days that the trial lasted, international attention was centred on Torun, as secret police tactics were revealed in a public court.
