Covent Garden
The Royal Opera House has never previously staged this early Verdi opera (his fourth), which is an epic in the grandiose traditions of Meyerbeer. Based on a romantic novel it tells of the intrigues and loves of a medieval noble family of Lombards and the part they played in the First Crusade.
