(The Strange Case of Odon von Horvath) odon von HORVATH, the Hungarian-born novelist and play-wright, was killed by a falling tiree in a thunderstorm on the Champs Elysees in 1938. He was 37.
DAVID PHILLIPS , who is working on a study of Horvath describes the curious circumstances surrounding the poet's death; and argues that Horvath's novels and plays, reflecting the tragedy of Germany during the inter-war years, have been unjustly neglected in this country.
