The Tain bo Cuailnge , the greatest of Irish epics, tells how Medb and Ailill, Queen and King of Connacht, invade Ulster in order to carry off the Great Brown Bull of Cuailnge, which Medb covets. Cuchulainn. the Hound of Ulster, holds back their armies single-handed until the rest of Ulster's warriors, lying sick under a curse, have recovered their strength.
