In anticipation of Monday's 40th anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin 's historic walk on the Moon, Charles Hazlewood presents both mainstream and experimental classical and popular works inspired by the space race, from Hoist and Herrmann to
Joe Meek and Brian Eno. Plus an unused
Alex North score commissioned by Stanley Kubrick for his 1968 film
2001: a Space Odyssey and the music that astronauts listened to en route to the Moon. Contributors include legendary guitarist Les Paul (How High the Moon, 1951), Byrds frontman Roger McGuinn (Mr Spaceman , 1966), producer Ouincy Jones - who arranged Frank Sinatra 's 1964 cover of F/y Me to the Moon - and Canadian musician/producer
