Bob Harris explores the troubled persona of American folk-blues singer/songwriter Tim Hardin , who died of a drug overdose in 1980, aged 39. Hardin completed no albums after 1973, having peaked in the 60s and early 70s with songs like Reason to Believe - Rod Stewart 's first hit - and If
Were a Carpenter, a top ten hit for Bobby Darin in 1966. Hardin's one US chart single was Simple Song of Freedom (1969), written by Bobby Darin. With contributions from Donovan, Janis Ian , Elvis Costello and John Sebastian.
