The first speaker in this very important series of talks on India, which are to be given twice a week, has been Secretary of State for India since 1931.
Sir Samuel Hoare has been Conservative member for Chelsea since 1910. He was Secretary of State for Air from 1922 to 1924, and from November, 1924, to June, 1920, with a seat in the Cabinet. He was awarded the G.B.E. in 1927 for the first civil flight to India. He was a member of the Ullswater Conference on Electoral Reform and the Indian Round Table Conference, and among his publications is ' India by Air '.
