An icy grip is felt over the course of six freezing months, and wildlife faces a finely balanced fight to survive. Bison use their powerful heads to dig through the snow to reach the grass beneath, a red fox listens out for mice six feet below the snow, while otters slide through a winter wonderland to find any open water in which they can fish.
