The last 50 years has seen an eye-watering rise in the number of British allergy sufferers, from roughly one in 30 of the population to one in three. "Horizon" travels to the remotest inhabited island on earth and to intensely polluted areas in California and Britain as it surveys current scientific research, inviting scientists and sufferers alike to share their ideas on why we are becoming allergic to our world.
