with Gloria Jean
When young Patricia Johnson 's father is killed in an accident, Buzz' Blackwell and two friends adopt her.
They leave San Francisco for New York in the hope of depositing Patricia with some rich relatives. Unfortunately the uncle and aunt have no such plans. Crosby is in fine form in a film where the accent is as much on comedy as on music.

: Favourite Walks

Anna Raeburn 's City Walk
The first of six British walks. Minarets, gibbon monkeys and Dilberta, the baby elephant, surround Anna Raeburn at the start of her walk. 'It's the contrasts of London I like so much,' she says as she moves from the comparative calm of Regent's Park towards the bustling noisy streets. 'I am no more likely to be defeated by the city than by a machine. It's man-made and therefore man-manageable.'
For Anna a city provides a challenge to be enjoyed. Director ANDREW MITCHELL Producer MIKE WEATHERLEY

: The Living Planet

A portrait of the Earth by David Attenborough
A series of 12 programmes 3: The Northern Forests From the Arctic to the southern USA stretches the largest forest in the world. In the snow covered conifers of the north live resourceful predators; the great grey owl plucks voles from the snow and lynx stalk roe deer.
Further south are deciduous ' woodlands with a colourful array of woodpeckers and ' hummingbirds. Autumn brings a feast as bears, racoons and chipmunks stock up for winter.
As David Attenborough travels on south, conifers become common again including the largest trees on Earth - the giant sequoias. And he even finds a woodpecker that uses tree sap to fight off attacking snakes! Director IAN CALVERT

About this project

This site contains the BBC listings information which the BBC printed in Radio Times between 1923 and 2009. You can search the site for BBC programmes, people, dates and Radio Times editions.

We hope it helps you find information about that long forgotten BBC programme, research a particular person or browse your own involvement with the BBC.

Through the listings, you will also be able to use the Genome search function to find thousands of radio and TV programmes that are already available to view or listen to on the BBC website.

There are more than 5 million programme listings in Genome. This is a historical record of the planned output and the BBC services of any given time. It should be viewed in this context and with the understanding that it reflects the attitudes and standards of its time - not those of today.

Welcome to BBC Genome

Genome is a digitised version of the Radio Times from 1923 to 2009 and is made available for internal research purposes only. You will need to obtain the relevant third party permissions for any use, including use in programmes, online etc.

This internal version of Genome, which includes all the magazine covers, images and articles as well as the programme listings from the Radio Times, is different to the version of BBC Genome that is available externally/to the public. It is only available inside the BBC network.

Your use of this version of Genome is covered by the BBC Acceptable Use of Information Systems Policy and these terms.
