' He is only an eye - but what an eye' - so Cezanne summed up his fedlow antist - Claude Monet , the Master Impressionist who was born in 1840 yet died only 50 years ago, regretting that he had ever been called an Impressionist. In this imaginary autobiography Michael Hordern speaks the part of Monet in an interpretation based on the closest study of the statements Monet himself is reported to have made to visitors and friends. His paintings are brought to life by comparison with the actual locations where they were Dainted.
