A Girl Named Eudora
Eudora Quartey - Ghana
Like the other girls of this series, Eudora is middle-class and privileged. But in Ghana, as in most of Africa, the privileged cannot turn their back on the rest of society. The extended family system sees to that. So the girl who attends the Australian High Commissioner's cocktail party or goes to watch her fiancée at the Accra Polo Club must return to her village. Here people are poor.

Another chance to see the highly-acclaimed visit last summer of the Chinese Acrobatic Theatre from Shanghai. Blending the grace of ballet, the agility of gymnastics and the traditions of folklore, the 35 young artists then top it all with balancing feats of incredible precision.
