2/5. Stealing Klimt The story of 90-year-old Maria Altmann 's struggle to recover five Gustav Klimt paintings which were stolen from her family's home in Vienna by the Nazis in 1938. After battling both the Austrian and American governments, Maria took her case to the US Supreme Court, who finally ruled in her favour. One of the recovered paintings was sold for a record$135 million (approximately F67.5 million).
