This week at Liverpool's Alder Hey children's hospital, anaesthetist Fiona Reynolds finds her stamina pushed to the limit during 24 hours on call. She has to help deal with a 15-week premature baby needing an operation for a perforated bowel, then in casualty, is faced with a two-and-a-half-year-old girl with possible brain swelling after a fit in the bath.
