The first Eucharist of Christmas comes from Carlisle Cathedral, which was originally built in 1124, soon after the city became part of the kingdom of England. The service follows Rite A of the new Alternative Service Book and the celebrant is the Dean, THE VERY REV JOHN CHURCHILL.
The sermon will be preached by the Bishop of Carlisle, THE RT REV DAVID HALSEY and the choir is directed by the Master of the Music, ANDREW SEIVEWRIGHT.
