from the Empire Pool, Wembley
This annual event at Wembley has become the premier European event for young gymnasts seeking to establish themselves. The list of past winners is impressive-from Russia, ELVIRA SAADI, NICOLAI ANDRIANOV , NINA DRONOVA, and from Romania, NADIA comaneci, who won the women's title last year in her first-ever International. Two weeks later she defeated Ludmila Tourischeva and Nelli Kim to win the European title. LIDIA GROBIK, from Russia, faces the challenge of another Romanian, TEODORA ungureanu, who many think could finish runner-up to Comaneci in the Olympics and push the established favourites, ludmila touhisciieva and OLGA KORBUT , out of the medals.
