The story of the 1975 British Expedition led by Chris Bonington Everest's South West Face was called ' the last great mountaineering challenge on Earth'. Five previous attempts to climb it had all failed. Now it has been climbed. When the British Everest Expedition set out from Katmandu in July a BBC film team went with them to share the day-to-day problems of tackling the world's highest mountain, CHRIS BONINGTON'S personal diary, together with comments from the other climbers, provide a unique opportunity to experience the expedition through the thoughts and feelings of those who took part.
