WILLIAM GEORGE KING joined the Wiltshire Police in 1947 and for the past 12 years has been the sergeant in charge of the Tisbury section in the south west of the county.
The section is known as 'King's Patch,' and in it the Sergeant is the Law. He cares for it 24 hours a day, and its 11,000 people of downland farm and small village are his constant interest.
