: THE WEEK'S GOOD CAUSE

Appeal on behalf of the Soldiers', Sailors', and Airmen's Families Association, by Mrs. M. Coleman , a S.S.A.F.A. worker
Contributions (preferably by crossed postal order or cheque): will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to [address removed].
For seventy-five years, the friendly, tireless, and unpaid army of voluntary workers, twelve thousand strong, under the auspices of the Soldiers', Sailors', and Airmen's Families Association, has been helping Service and ex-Service families who are in difficulties and have no one else to turn to. S.S.A.F.A. help comes sometimes in cash, sometimes in kind, sometimes just in personal help. This work is vital-but it is costly, and it relies largely on public support.

: ' THE WOMAN IN WHITE'

by Wilkie Collins
Dramatised as a serial for broadcasting in twelve parts by Howard Agg
2-' Strange Fatality '
Pianist, Bernice Lehmann
Produced by Martyn C. Webster
On a summer evening Walter Hartright arrived from London at the village of Limmeridge on the coast of Cumberland, and presented himself at Limmeridge House, home of Mr. Frederick Fairlie. He had been engaged to instruct Mr. Fairlie's niece Laura and her half-sister Marian Halcombe in the art of sketching.
On his first morning he met the three people who were to play such a decisive part in his life: Mr. Fairlie, the eccentric bachelor master of the house; Marian, to whom he related the strange incident that happened to him only the night before he left London; and Laura, whose striking resemblance to someone he has met haunted his mind and cast a shadow for him over the tranquil, sunlit surroundings of Limmeridge House.

About this project

This site contains the BBC listings information which the BBC printed in Radio Times between 1923 and 2009. You can search the site for BBC programmes, people, dates and Radio Times editions.

We hope it helps you find information about that long forgotten BBC programme, research a particular person or browse your own involvement with the BBC.

Through the listings, you will also be able to use the Genome search function to find thousands of radio and TV programmes that are already available to view or listen to on the BBC website.

There are more than 5 million programme listings in Genome. This is a historical record of the planned output and the BBC services of any given time. It should be viewed in this context and with the understanding that it reflects the attitudes and standards of its time - not those of today.

Welcome to BBC Genome

Genome is a digitised version of the Radio Times from 1923 to 2009 and is made available for internal research purposes only. You will need to obtain the relevant third party permissions for any use, including use in programmes, online etc.

This internal version of Genome, which includes all the magazine covers, images and articles as well as the programme listings from the Radio Times, is different to the version of BBC Genome that is available externally/to the public. It is only available inside the BBC network.

Your use of this version of Genome is covered by the BBC Acceptable Use of Information Systems Policy and these terms.
