An Action for Slander
London-June, 1891
During the course of a St. Leger week house-party at Tranby Croft in Yorkshire in September 1890, a Lieutenant-Colonel of the Scots Guards was accused of cheating at baccarat. The Prince of Wales had been present. Early the next year the scandal became public property and Sir William Gordon-Cumming brought an action for slander against his accusers.
