Willie is rescued by Sandy and Jock from a deep gorge. Later the members of the expedition are guided by a nomad to Kyirong, the City of Joy. Sharong, the Viceroy, tells them how to find Chagpori (the Iron Mountain), where the ' Book of Wisdom ' is thought to be kept in a monastery. In camp one night they discover they are surrounded by flaming torches.

Stravinsky's Italian Suite derives from his ballet Pulcinella. The ballet, which was produced in 1920, was based on pieces by the eighteenth-century composer, Pergolesi. Stravinsky arranged seven of the movements to make up this Suite. Deryck Cooke
