Anthem: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
(S. S. Wesley)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which, according to his abundant mercy, hath begotten us aga;n unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheriance incorruptible and undefiled, that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation reidy to be revealed in the last time. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. Pass the time of your sojourning here in fear. Ste that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently. Being bom again not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of men as the flower of grass. The grass withereth and the flower thereof falleth away. But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.

: EINSTEIN SUMS UP

by J. Bronowski
For nearly fifty years Dr. Einstein has been drawing together various themes on the structure of the universe. He has shown that energy and matter are forms of the same thing; and that space and time are not wholly separate entities but are part of a single reality. His latest work, described by Dr. Bronowski in this talk, is another step in this process of unification. It seeks to show a mathematical relationship between gravitation and electro-magnetism, and Dr. Bronowski explains what this means in non-mathematical language.

: THE ENGLISH NOVEL 7-Thomas Hardy

by Geoffrey Grigson
Hardy was a novelist of striking depth and limitations, with a very grey view of human destiny. How much does his poetic insight overcome the limits of his equipment. his melodrama, and his folkiness '? How much are his novels made or damaged by the conception of life as a ' general drama of pain ' in which ' happiness is but the occasional episode '?

About this project

This site contains the BBC listings information which the BBC printed in Radio Times between 1923 and 2009. You can search the site for BBC programmes, people, dates and Radio Times editions.

We hope it helps you find information about that long forgotten BBC programme, research a particular person or browse your own involvement with the BBC.

Through the listings, you will also be able to use the Genome search function to find thousands of radio and TV programmes that are already available to view or listen to on the BBC website.

There are more than 5 million programme listings in Genome. This is a historical record of the planned output and the BBC services of any given time. It should be viewed in this context and with the understanding that it reflects the attitudes and standards of its time - not those of today.

To read scans of the Radio Times magazines from the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s, you can navigate by issue.

Welcome to BBC Genome

Genome is a digitised version of the Radio Times from 1923 to 2009 and is made available for internal research purposes only. You will need to obtain the relevant third party permissions for any use, including use in programmes, online etc.

This internal version of Genome, which includes all the magazine covers, images and articles as well as the programme listings from the Radio Times, is different to the version of BBC Genome that is available externally/to the public. It is only available inside the BBC network.

Your use of this version of Genome is covered by the BBC Acceptable Use of Information Systems Policy and these terms.
