Review: Elmyr - the true picture?

on BBC Two England

Introduced by David Jones

A film by the famous French director Francois Reichenbach about the man who has been called "the world's greatest forger". In 1969 Elmyr de Hory, who lives on the Spanish island of Ibiza, was revealed as the originator of an estimated 1,000 pictures that have made their way on to the international art market over the past 20 years - pictures purporting to be by artists like Picasso, Matisse, Dufy, Modigliani. In this film Elmyr demonstrated his art for the first time and told his own extraordinary story.
