on National Programme Daventry

View in Radio Times

Lilias Mackinnon
Lilias Mackinnon was born in Aber deen. She was the only member of her family to show any marked gifts for music. After having studied the piano under a local teacher, she was sent to the Royal Academy of Music, where she worked for several years with Carlo Albanesi. In 19)6 she won the Macfarren Gold Medal.
During the next few years Miss
Mackinnon gradually made a name for herself as a teacher and concert
-artist. Her name became linked with the music of Scriabin, of which she made a deep study.
For many years now Miss Mackinnon has specialised in memorisation in music, on which subject she has lectured at) over the country and taught according to her own method. Her talk this evening should be of great interest to musical [isteners.
