The Big Performance

Series 1

Episode 11

First broadcast: on CBBC ChannelLatest broadcast: on CBBC Channel

Ten shy children who love to sing but are terrified of performing in public are put through their paces by choirmaster extraordinaire Gareth Malone. Having already worked his magic on a tone-deaf town, reluctant schoolboys and wayward teenagers, Gareth attempts to build the youngsters' fragile confidence and turn them into singing stars capable of performing in front of a massive crowd - 40,000 people at London's Proms in the Park.

The tour bus pulls up at its final destination, Hyde Park in London. The ten would-be singers have just over 24 hours to get their performance into tip-top shape for their big day. Last time, Gareth announced that Miriyah had secured the solo spot, so the pressure is on for her and the rest of the group to learn their parts for the Take That classic Rule the World and get used to performing on the massive professional stage at Proms in the Park.

The group get their first taste of celebrity life as they explore backstage and realise they will be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest musical stars in the country. But, with so much to take in, the group forget everything they have been taught by Gareth over the past eleven weeks. Their technical rehearsal with the 80-piece orchestra is far from acceptable and Gareth is worried.

Will a special guest appearance from CBBC favourite Barney Harwood, and an emergency phone call for choreography back-up help save the group's performance as they prepare to sing in front of 40,000 people at Proms in the Park? Show less
