In the second of this Money Programme series looking at different sectors of Britain's economy in the recession, Newsnight's Paul Mason covers the moving story of rising unemployment from the shop floor of two struggling manufacturing companies in the Midlands.

With remarkable access to two factories struggling to survive, the film looks at the continuing battle they face, and charts the job-saving measures being introduced, from cutting costs and reducing working hours through to seeking support from the banks to avoid closure and the spectre of laying people off.
