The American Republican Party begins its convention in New Orleans this evening (7.00pm local time) with a tribute to President Reagan, who then addresses the delegates for the last time. David Dimbleby reports live from the Louisiana convention hall as the party formally thanks the President for his eight years in the Oval Office.
