Wagner's Ring: Siegfried

The seventh episode in the Bayreuth production of The Ring of the Nibelung by Richard Wagner divided into ten weekly parts and broadcast simultaneously by Radio 3 in stereo.

Siegfried, the innocent hero, has slain the dragon and won the Ring for himself. Now he is on the way to rescue the sleeping Brunnhilde, but his path is blocked by Wotan. Siegfried's sword, Nothung, proves more powerful than Wotan's spear. and the old order gives way to the new The fearless Siegfried passes through the circle of fire to awaken the now mortal Brunnhilde and their radiant love duet brings the opera Siegfried to a magnificent conclusion.
This centenary production was recorded in Wagner's own theatre under the artistic supervision of the composers grandson, Wolfgang Wagner
