A Commentary by Major H. F. FAUDEL-PHILLIPS on the Competition for the Edward, Prince of Wales Cup from Olympia
(Copyright. See notice on page 59)
Last year the broadcast was given of the jumping for the King George V Challenge Cup ; this year the event chosen is the Edward, Prince of Wales Challenge Cup which was won outright by Great Britain in 1928 and represented by the Army Council for perpetual competition.
Whereas the competition broadcast last year was for jumping by a military officer of any nationality in uniform, the competition to be broadcast today is for jumping over the course by teams of three officers of the same nationality in uniform, and they go twice round. Only one team of three officers from each country can compete in any one year, and only horses belonging to officers or Governments may be ridden.
