The Australian-born composer Percy Grainger (1882-1961) was a unique personality. Strikingly handsome, a brilliant pianist, exhaustingly energetic, wildly eccentric, passionate about his music almost to the point of madness, he was much loved by all who knew him. and devoted to his mother.
