Overture, The Two Sisters
Cyril Bradley Rootham

Dr. Cyril Rootham, of St. John's College, Cambridge, wrote in 1922 an opera on the subject of the Two Sisters of Dinoire, the famous old Scotch Ballad on a text by Marjorie Fausset. It was performed in Cambridge in the same year. The tune to which the ballad is traditionally sung figures prominently as a theme in the opera. This is the overture which is frequently played as a concert-room piece and is made up in the customary way of themes from the opera.
