When Marlowe is summoned to the home of a bedridden millionaire, General Sternwood, his visit marks the start of a complex investigation involving blackmail, drugs, murder and the General's two beautiful but enigmatic daughters. Bogart gives a masterly performance as the private detective Philip Marlowe , in Hawks's famous thriller based on the novel by Raymond Chandler.
