Before Paul Heiney made this programme, his total culinary expertise equalled fish fingers grilled or fried. It is with this limited knowledge that he sets out to represent
Michel Roux's Waterside Inn at Bray in a competition between four of Britain's top restaurants.
For weeks Paul sweats onions and reduces sauces in the Waterside kitchens and spends a day working at London's exclusive Langan's Brasserie where the diners include Michael Caine. Chefs Nico Landenis, Raymond Blanc and the flamboyant Keith Floyd do their best to turn Paul into a master of nouvelle cuisine for the final contest.
