Opera Matinee: Fidelio

Beethoven's heroic drama tells how. with superhuman courage, Leonore rescues her husband Florestan from unjust imprisonment by the tyrannical Don Pizarro. To do this, she disguises herself as a young man called Fidelio and obtains employment at the prison where Florestan is languishing. This performance of the opera was given last year in the Grosses
Festspielhaus, Salzburg, as part of the Salzburg Festival.
