Star Portraits with Rolf Harris

We have produced a Style Guide to help editors follow a standard format when editing a listing. If you are unsure how best to edit this programme please take a moment to read it.
New series 1/3. Rolf Harris follows three artists as they take on the challenge of painting the portrait of former EastEnders star Barbara Windsor in just two weeks.

Star Portraits with Rolf Harris 5.30 pm BBC1
The prospect of observing three professional artists as they paint a celebrity sitter while Rolf Harris looks over their shoulder and chats may sound like the televisual equivalent of watching paint dry. But it's remarkably engrossing: five million of us watched the last series. The first celebrity to subject themselves to the artists' scrutiny this time around is Barbara Windsor. "I'm always painted very cartoonish," she tells us. "I want it to be a bit grand."
It's fascinating to see how the different painters tackle the task and to form your own opinion on who has done the best job - then see which portrait Barbara herself chooses to keep. (Jane Rackham)

About this project

This site contains the BBC listings information which the BBC printed in Radio Times between 1923 and 2009. You can search the site for BBC programmes, people, dates and Radio Times editions.

We hope it helps you find information about that long forgotten BBC programme, research a particular person or browse your own involvement with the BBC.

Through the listings, you will also be able to use the Genome search function to find thousands of radio and TV programmes that are already available to view or listen to on the BBC website.

There are more than 5 million programme listings in Genome. This is a historical record of the planned output and the BBC services of any given time. It should be viewed in this context and with the understanding that it reflects the attitudes and standards of its time - not those of today.
