In 19th-century Japan, a wandering samurai warrior drifts into a town terrorised by two rival factions. Hired as a bodyguard, he soon senses treachery and uses his deadly skills to destroy both gangs. Director Akira Kurosawa 's witty and violent 'entertainment' was the inspiration for the first spaghetti western, A Fistful of Dollars.
