Lessness

on BBC Radio 3

by Samuel Beckett
read by - Donal Donnelly, Leonard Fenton, Denys Hawthorne, Patrick Magee, Harold Pinter, Nicol Williamson
Samuel Beckett's short prose text Sans first appeared in French in 1969. Last year an English translation by the author was published under the title Lessness. Samuel Beckett has himself indicated the distribution of the lines among six voices. Lessness is an intricately structured prose poem which describes a landscape of desolation after the collapse of a last refuge.
The reading introduced and produced by Martin Esslin.
