Artist Laura Reynolds is a beautiful and unconventional woman who believes in educating her 9-year-old illegitimate son, Danny, herself. But her Bohemian ideals bring about confrontation with the authorities. The boy is forced to attend a private school run by Episcopalian minister Dr Edward Hewitt , who finds the headstrong Laura fiercely attractive.
Elizabeth Taylor gives an emotional and highly-charged performance in Vincente Minnelli 's 'adult love story'.
