It's Not All Beer and Skittles

on BBC One London

The 'Jolly Miller' is a favourite character of merry England. He turned into the Corn Merchant, and the Corn Merchant into big business.
This documentary looks at a year on farms in Devon and Dorset and at the business of buying and selling to farmers, from feed cake to be supplied in computerised mouthfuls to cows, to the malting of barley for the making of beer; a year that started with a harvest and drought, moved through our wettest winter for years and returns to the harvest of 1977.
